BGTutor mid-game: the coach interrupts a blunder over the live board — “This leaves a shot you didn't need to give up” — showing the played and best moves with a plain-language explanation and Take it back / Play on choices.

A coach at the table

Play against the engine and get told the moment you go wrong — not just that you erred, but why, grounded in the position in front of you: shots, structure, timing.

A cube-decision coach alert reading “You missed a double”, graded a blunder, explaining why it's a clear double and take, with Double it and Roll anyway buttons.

Grades you can trust

Borderline calls are re-checked in the background with reference-grade rollouts. Your records quietly correct themselves — and say so.

An analyzer verdict for a doubtful move: candidate moves with equities, the top three marked with rollout-verified chips, a Verify by rollout button and the rollout settings beneath.

Know your game

Your history builds a picture: where you lose equity, by decision type and position type. Then you drill exactly those mistakes, on the board, until they stop costing you.

The Progress tab: an error-rate trend bending downward, “Where you lose equity” bars split by kind, severity and position type, a list of graded sessions and a Drill these mistakes button.

Bring your games

Import matches from Backgammon Galaxy or Backgammon Studio Heroes, or photograph a real board mid-game. Everything lands in one archive, graded the same way.

After a match import, BGTutor asks “Who were you?” with a button for each player in the imported match.

How it teaches

  1. Play or import — every decision is graded as you go.

  2. Understand — plain-language explanations, verified against the engine's numbers.

  3. Improve — drill your own mistakes and watch the trend bend.
